I would imagine most would do a little research before starting on one and they’re going to see Kylo generally regarded as the best of the four and all the complaints about SEE. Then you have newer players who haven’t even started a GL. Players in the middle likely already started on Rey or Kylo, so they’re not going to just switch on a whim. And it’s not something that I see changing any time soon.
There’s more than double the number of JMLs. There being so few in the game also hurts. And if you don’t deal with anyone who has JML, you’re missing out on the main strength of SEE. I do know some people who have just hoarded and didn’t do Rey or Kylo, so there will be some. He has so many nesting requirements that it would be insane to go after him first. If you’re newer, then you probably won’t see JML for years. I still rank him as 3rd best, above Rey, but that’s in the context of interacting with all four. Outside of that, barring any buffs, SEE is a victim of circumstance. The main exception are people who are on older arena shards that took a break or something so they would see a lot of JMLs. I don’t think SEE is a good first GL for most people. If we had better Sith, I don’t think there would be as many complaints about SEE. The only reason Kylo ends up with a FO team is because of Hux not because of anything in his kit. Kylo and Rey have a little synergy with their factions, but they’re mostly just LS and DS GLs. I guess Vader, sort of, but it’s not the same. SEE has similar narrow Sith synergy, but there’s no Sith that are really on par to JML and GAS. JML has narrow Jedi synergy, but JKL and GAS are basically two of the best non-GLs in the game so you’re using top tier characters on his team. The main problem with SEE is the Sith are not the best characters out there. You have to be in a position where you don’t need the heal, but can survive another turn before you can do anything. By the time you do the ultimate, most of your team is usually dead, so the other team can target you and that’s annoying. It makes it so there are times when you don’t want to do it because you lose the ability to heal. Waiting an extra turn to do his AOE is not good. One change I would definitely do would be to give SEE a bonus turn after activating his ultimate. I would lean towards expanding the part where when a Sith dies, it heals everyone else and expand that to all dark side characters. So SEE needs something to be able to win against Kylo.
I have heard that JML can beat SEE, too, it’s just not easy. The only think I’ve seen where SEE beats Kylo is using GAS and Fives, but that’s just an existing counter someone threw SEE in. Like for Kylo, it’s possible to beat JML, even if it isn’t easy. It’s fine for Kylo to be a hard counter, but there should be some way to win on offense. There’s no real consistent way for SEE to beat Kylo and that’s probably not a good thing. Ironically, he’s the easiest to get so newer players are more likely to go for him and he has less value in those arenas because JML won’t show up there for a long time.Īs far as a buff goes. Older arenas are going to skew more towards JML, so SEE has more value there. If someone is using JML as their arena team, they’re just as likely to go around SEE as to switch to Rey or Kylo to beat him (since almost no one is really going to have JML as their first GL). So it becomes a game of what everyone else is using. The other GLs hard counter at least one other. Looking purely from an arena perspective, that makes Rey a target for everyone. Rey’s greatest strength is she can beat all the other GLs on offense, but that means all of them can beat her.
